Akative announces the hiring of Brian Dalziel as its new Vice President of Business Strategy. The position is a new addition to the growing tech company's leadership team. Dalziel joined the company Monday, August 2, 2021.
Dalziel was previously Senior Vice President and Entrepreneur-in-Residence at Iowa Lakes Corridor Development Corporation. Over the past 11 years, he provided advisory services to 262 businesses, helped entrepreneurs launch 111 startup companies, and assisted entrepreneurs in raising $14.9 million in startup capital. Dalziel launched and managed the Iowa Lakes Corridor Angel Investor Network and managed the Iowa Lakes Capital angel fund. Prior to joining the Corridor, Dalziel served as Director of the Northeast Iowa Business Accelerator in Dubuque, IA, where he advised 86 early-stage ventures. Prior to serving as a professional business coach to entrepreneurs, Dalziel founded, scaled, and exited several technology startup companies during the 1990s and 2000s.
"I am excited to join a great team of marketers and technologists at Akative. A successful technology company, Akative has a fast-paced, results-oriented environment and an innovation-driven culture backed with a strong intellectual property portfolio," said Dalziel. "Supporting this team to scale the RocketFailover family of products nationwide is a tremendous professional opportunity."
In addition to Dalziel's professional service, he has been an active community volunteer. He served as coach and mentor to Spirit Lake Robotics, a high school competitive robotics team that draws members from Arnolds Park, Milford, Okoboji, and Spirit Lake. He has also been an active member of Kiwanis, served as a Junior Achievement volunteer, and guest-lectured at Buena Vista University and The University of Iowa. Dalziel recently moved from Sprit Lake to Marion, IA, to be closer to family and will work remotely for Akative, occasionally traveling to the company's offices in Milford and Ames, IA.
"Brian's career spans 30 years leading and inspiring the commercialization of technology innovation. His creativity and drive will prove to be strong assets to our team as we scale Akative," said Don Van Oort, President of Akative.
